Episode 1: Slavery

How did God's people end up enslaved in Egypt, and what does their story teach us about our own need for rescue?

In the opening message of Season 3, we trace the story from Eden to Egypt, discovering how God's covenant people found themselves longing for the home He had promised. As Israel cries out under the weight of oppression, God reveals Himself as the God who hears, remembers His covenant, sees the suffering of His people, and comes down to rescue them. Through the calling of Moses, we see that God not only rescues His people but also invites ordinary people to participate in His redemptive work.

Ultimately, Moses points us to Jesus—the greater Deliverer who came not simply to free us from earthly oppression, but to rescue us from sin and death and bring us home to the presence of God. This message launches our Rescue season by asking a foundational question: Why does God rescue people? Throughout the weeks ahead, we'll discover that God doesn't merely rescue us from slavery; He rescues us into relationship with Himself, forming us into His holy people for the good of the world.
