Episode 1: Creation
In the first message of our year-long journey through the story of Scripture, we begin where the Bible begins: "In the beginning, God." Genesis 1 shows us that before there was anything else, there was God: the Creator who speaks, and creation obeys. Unlike the competing gods of ancient cultures, the God of the Bible stands alone as the sovereign source of all life, beauty, truth, and goodness.
We explored how God takes a world that is tohu wabohu—formless and empty—and fills it with order, life, and blessing. Again and again, God declares His creation good, reminding us that the goodness we experience in creation flows from the goodness of the Creator Himself.
Finally, we saw that humanity is created in God's image. Every person has dignity, authority, and purpose. Men and women together reflect God and are commissioned to fill the earth with His goodness, representing Him in every space He has entrusted to us. The story of the Bible begins with God's creative love and His invitation to participate in His work and rest in His presence.
We want to know the story of God so we can become the people of God for the good of our community and the glory of God.
